Environment & Sustainability Intern – Trading & Shipping Operations

At TotalEnergies, sustainability is an integral part of how we conduct our activities and develop our business. Through our Sustainab’ALL program, we aim to embed sustainability principles into our day-to-day activities and operational decision-making. Within TotalEnergies Trading & Shipping (T&S) and TotalEnergies Gas & Power (TGP), the HSE team supports a wide range of operational activities, including trading operations, shipping, logistics, inspections and terminal activities. The team contributes to managing operational risks, promoting safe ways of working and continuously improving environmental performance. As part of this ambition, we are looking for an Environment & Sustainability Intern to join our team in Geneva and contribute to several sustainability initiatives across our operational activities. This internship will give you the opportunity to work on concrete environmental challenges, interact with a broad range of stakeholders and help turn sustainability objectives into practical operational improvements. Working closely with the T&S and TGP HSE team, you will contribute to the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives across our operations. Your main responsibilities will include: Assessing the environmental footprint of selected operational activities and identifying relevant performance indicators; Supporting the definition of environmental performance objectives and reduction targets; Supporting the implementation of improvement initiatives and monitoring their progress; Collecting, structuring and analysing environmental and operational data; Helping develop tools and dashboards to improve the monitoring and communication of sustainability performance; Collaborating with stakeholders across Trading Operations, LNG, Dry Bulk, Shipping, Inspection, Logistics and Midstream activities. You will contribute to projects covering several areas, including: Sustainable operations and workplace practices Assess current practices and environmental impacts, identify improvement opportunities and support initiatives aimed at reducing emissions and resource consumption. Environmental impact of inspection and sampling activities Help establish the environmental footprint associated with inspection and sampling activities, define relevant indicators and support the implementation of reduction initiatives. Sustainability in contractor management Support the integration of sustainability criteria into the qualification and evaluation of inspection companies, surveyors and other service providers. Sustainability assessment of operational terminals Contribute to the development of sustainability criteria for terminal assessments, including environmental indicators, performance objectives and potential improvement actions. You are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Energy Transition, HSE or another relevant field. You have a strong interest in environmental management, decarbonization, sustainability reporting and ESG-related topics, and you are interested in understanding how sustainability can be applied in a fast-moving operational and energy-trading environment. We are looking for someone who: Has a strong analytical mindset and enjoys turning data and ideas into practical recommendations; Is curious about digitalization, innovation and data-driven decision-making; Is autonomous, proactive and comfortable working with different stakeholders; Has excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint; Is comfortable using digital and data analytics tools such as Power BI or similar platforms; Ideally has some exposure to Power Automate, AI-enabled tools or other digital solutions; Is fluent in English and French.
