Orano USA is seeking a Fire Safety Engineer to support the development of Project IKE, a cutting-edge uranium enrichment facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. This role offers a career-defining opportunity to apply advanced fire protection engineering principles in a high-hazard nuclear industrial environment. You will design and evaluate fire protection systems for uranium-enrichment equipment, chemical processes, and specialized nuclear facilities while collaborating with engineering, operations, and regulatory teams. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining world-class safety performance across the entire fuel cycle. This position requires expertise in fire hazard analysis, suppression system design, performance-based fire modeling, and compliance with NFPA, DOE, and NRC regulations. You will lead critical safety initiatives, conduct facility inspections, participate in incident investigations, and support emergency preparedness planning. The ideal candidate combines technical rigor with the ability to communicate complex safety analyses to internal and regulatory audiences in a dynamic nuclear innovation environment.
Vos missions
- Perform fire and explosion hazard assessments for nuclear and industrial systems including uranium-enrichment equipment and chemical processes
- Design and engineer fire suppression, detection, alarm, and smoke control systems compliant with NFPA, DOE, NRC standards
- Conduct facility inspections of fire protection systems and document corrective actions
- Perform performance-based fire modeling using FDS and PyroSim tools to evaluate fire scenarios and evacuation strategies
- Interpret and apply NFPA codes and nuclear-industry fire protection requirements for regulatory compliance
- Participate in root-cause analyses and develop engineering recommendations following fire-related events
- Contribute to fire response planning, drills, and emergency preparedness support
- Collaborate with nuclear safety engineers, chemical engineers, and external regulators
Profil recherché
- Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in fire protection engineering in industrial, chemical, or nuclear environments
- Strong knowledge of NFPA codes, IBC/IFC, and performance-based fire engineering
- Experience with fire modeling tools (FDS, PyroSim) and hydraulic calculation software
- Ability to produce clear, technically rigorous reports for internal and regulatory audiences
Un plus si vous avez
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Fire Protection
- Experience with NRC or DOE nuclear-industry fire protection requirements
- Familiarity with combustible loading analysis and fire barrier evaluations
- Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) credential
- Background in high-hazard industrial process safety
