EDP Renewables seeks a Transmission Senior Associate to drive transmission strategy and optimization across its global renewable energy portfolio. In this hybrid role based in Houston, you will perform advanced transmission modeling using industry-standard tools like Dayzer and PSS/E, analyzing congestion patterns and LMP basis forecasts to inform FTR/CRR bidding strategies. You'll evaluate the impact of transmission outages and upgrades on EDPR's wind and solar assets, providing critical guidance to project developers and supporting regional market participation. This position bridges technical expertise and commercial strategy, requiring you to influence stakeholders at all levels—from internal leadership to high-ranking political figures—ensuring EDPR's transmission infrastructure aligns with both operational excellence and corporate objectives. You will manage EDPR's TRS queues and TSR portfolio, support market operations teams, and proactively anticipate changes in FERC policies and market rules that could affect competitiveness. The ideal candidate combines deep utility industry knowledge with strong analytical problem-solving capabilities and the ability to translate complex technical standards into actionable commercial decisions.

Vos missions

  • Perform transmission modeling and SCED analysis using Dayzer, PSS/E and provide congestion and basis forecasts for FTR/CRR bidding strategies
  • Track transmission and generation outages/upgrades and model their impact on EDPR's portfolio
  • Provide transmission strategy and guidance to project developers to ensure competitive market positioning
  • Analyze Financial Transmission Rights (FTRs), forward prices, transmission congestion, and LMP basis spreads
  • Manage EDPR's TRS queues and TSR portfolio and handle transmission procurement in primary and secondary markets
  • Represent EDPR's interests in regional ISO meetings and support negotiations staff on transmission-related matters
  • Work with Market Operations and Energy Management teams to mitigate transmission risks and align market rule changes with EDPR's interests

Profil recherché

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics or Engineering (Master's degree preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in the utility industry with generation interconnection experience preferred
  • Expert knowledge of nodal markets and LMP forecasting tools (Dayzer, UPLAN, Promod, etc.)
  • Thorough knowledge of FERC, OATT, OTD, RTOP, and NERC policies
  • Proficient in PSS/E, Power Flow software, and Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex issues from theoretical to implementation level
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence senior leadership and external stakeholders

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project
  • Public speaking experience and ability to engage with high-ranking political figures
  • Experience in energy market operations or trading
  • Knowledge of renewable energy integration challenges
